The Boiling Antarctica!

The Global Climate Innovation Center (GCIC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to advancing climate actions and solutions centered on innovation, with a global influence and cutting-edge projects around the world. GCIC collaborates with talents from various fields and friendly organizations worldwide, including local governments, experts, scholars, business leaders, and scientific entrepreneurs, to jointly support the global economy's transition towards sustainable development and to promote the implementation of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Antarctica, the coldest, most stormy, and snowy continent in the world, is known as the sleeping giant due to its stable state and massive form. However, this giant is awakening against the backdrop of global warming. Its awakening, the chaos of Antarctic temperatures, and the crisis of biological survival are all ringing the alarm for us to deal with climate change!

The term global climate change frequently appears in our lives, and the rapid growth of the global population and uncontrolled development of fossil fuels are all increasing greenhouse gas emissions. We are already familiar enough with the hazards of global climate change - frequent extreme weather, melting glaciers, food chain disruptions, rising sea levels, new diseases The recent warming of Antarctica further illustrates the magnitude and depth of the threat and impact of global climate change.

The boiling of Antarctica is first reflected in the temperature. The Antarctic Peninsula is one of the fastest warming regions in the world, with the average temperature rising by about 3℃ over the past few decades. At the same time, the Antarctic sea ice area continues to refresh the record lows. Extreme weather, such as continuous rainfall, is repeated in Antarctica, which is called rare in history.Under the influence of global warming, the Antarctic ecology is undergoing tremendous changes.

The organisms in Antarctica are the most affected group. Some species of penguins are unable to adapt to climate changes and can only migrate to colder regions, resulting in a continuous decline in population numbers. The reduced sea ice, changing climate, and even severe impacts on the breeding of emperor penguins pose a crisis of extinction. Seaweed and krill are also constantly decreasing under the influence of climate change, threatening more organisms that feed on them and damaging the ecological balance of the Antarctic region.

UN Secretary General Guterres said, "The era of global warming has come to an end, and the era of global boiling has arrived." Coexisting on the same blue planet, we are not only speaking out for Antarctic life, but also responsible for our own future. Dealing with climate change requires action, let's protect the purity of Antarctica and the sustainability of the future!
